Intro to Fishing Seminar

Are you a parent, grandparent, or adult who would like to take a child fishing but aren't sure where to start? The Whiting Center has a new 3-hour seminar just for you!

Our first class scheduled for Saturday, April 15th at 9am in the Whiting Center Green Room has sold out! An additional class has been added for Saturday, April 22nd - join Fred Hicks, our resident Fishing Expert. In addition to working on the lakes within Bear Valley, Fred is also a professional fishing guide.

This seminar will teach you all that is necessary to take a child to the lakes within BVS and be successful while you're on the water. The seminar will be hands-on and Fred will cover the following topics:

-How to select the right rod & reel

-Tackle selection

-Knots

-Equipment setup

-Casting

-Fish identification

-Fish handling

-Fish release

-Participant questions

We will be offering two different sign up options. The seminar is for adults only and space is limited to 12 participants. Pre-payment is required, and refunds will not be available for no-shows (though no-shows will receive the equipment from either option they signed up for).

Option 1 for $55: You will receive a panfish rod and reel worth approximately $55, a tackle box with essential tackle for the Bear Valley Lakes worth approximately $25, cheat sheets for set up, rigging, and fish identification.

Option 2 for $25: You will receive a tackle box with essential tackle worth approximately $25 for the Bear Valley Lakes and cheat sheets for set up, rigging, and fish identification.
