Food and Beverage Manager

Job Purpose Outline:

Responsible for all food and beverage production and service for the Association.

Reports to:
Under the direction of the General Manager and Food and Beverage Director.
Work Environment:
Essential Job Functions / Key Responsibilities:

·        Directs and supervises the BVSA food operations including The Oaks Restaurant, The Oak Branch Saloon, Banquets, Mulligan Room and          Pool Snack Bar.

·        Helps to run events that were planned out by the Food and Beverage Director, direct and schedule staff accordingly.

·        Ensures smooth operations and a high level of customer service.

·        Follows the orientation packet and all training material for staff with emphasis on customer service.

·        Maintains balanced staffing and scheduling strategies to meet business needs.

·        Maintains high visibility to customers during hours of service by greeting and listening to customers’ comments and needs.

·        Maintains appearance, upkeep, cleanliness, and organization of all F&B facilities.

·        Develops and makes recommendations for current and long-range plans and procedures for effectively meeting objectives of the club and          its satellite facilities.

        Implement these plans and procedures.

·        Maintains a well-organized workspace; desk, storage, kitchen, liquor room and any buildings/rooms within the F&B department.

·        Will assume responsibility for food and beverage service, purchasing and/or maintenance of adequate food and beverage stock, and          staying within budget.

·        Recommends Food and Beverage Director plans and policies to guide in scheduling activities.

·        Program planning, provision of entertainment, planning and conducting activities, and organizing food and beverage service.

·        Ensures proper maintenance of Club facility and property.

·        Maintains cooperative and coordinative relationships with such agencies as the Community Services District, all social clubs, and other          departments of the Association.

·        Establishes effective orientation and training for any new F&B staff, maintains ongoing development of existing personnel via evaluations,           continuing interaction and the getting of goals.

·        Ensures that all standard operating procedures for revenue and cost control are in place and consistently utilized.

                       o   Takes monthly inventories and generates weekly COG for food and beverage.

                       o   Monitors labor costs daily, weekly and for pay periods.

                       o   Approves and codes all supplier invoices before submitting to accounting.

                       o   Completes month-end inventory and submits to Food and Beverage Director by 1stof following month.

                       o   Responsible for maintaining realistic inventory levels to optimize club cash flow, keep storage orderly and minimize waste.

                       o   Maintains POS and accurate daily sales reports; reconciles errors.

                       o   Keeps historical records of special events and day-to-day business for purposes of educated forecasts.

                       o   Audits payroll at least monthly.

·        Inspects to ensure that all safety, sanitation, energy management and preventive maintenance plans are in continual use.

·        Helps plan and approves external and internal marketing and sales promotion activities for building F&B business.

·        Structures the F&B organizational chart for maximum effectiveness.  Maintains balanced staffing and scheduling strategies to meet          business needs.

·        Defines job descriptions for all subordinate F&B positions.

·        Reviews menus and accompanying prices and margins proposed by Executive Chef for all venues and special events.

·        Sees that all legal requirements are adhered to including wage and hour issues, federal, state and local laws governing alcoholic          beverages, and health department.  Researches new products and works with Food and Beverage Director and Executive Chef in          developing menu trends and variety to satisfy customer interests in cuisine.

·        Maintains current and comprehensive employee files.

·        Develops and enforces policies and procedures for F&B department.

·        Monitors purchasing and receiving procedures for products and supplies to meet guidelines set for quality and pricing.

·        Maintains open communications with Food and Beverage Director, Executive Chef, Supervisors and Leads via weekly management          meetings and daily conversation.

·        Maintains high visibility at the dining facilities by greeting and listening to customers’ comments and needs.

·        Maintains appearance, upkeep, cleanliness, and organization of all department facilities.

·        Monitors employee dress codes according to Handbook.

·        Auditions and approves all Saloon entertainment.

·        Ensures smooth operations and high level of customer service during hours of service.

Key Relationships:

QUALIFICATIONS:

·        Excellent customer service skills.

·        5+ years hands on restaurant management.

·        Experience in both front and back of the house restaurant operations.

·        Strong, proven supervisory skills.

·        Current State of California Food Safety Certification.

Golf Cart & Range Employee

Job Purpose Outline:

Job Summary (Essential Functions): Provide bag, golf car and range services to members and guests.

Reports to:
Golf Professional, Golf Shop Manager, Golf Shop Attendant
Work Environment:
Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Able to meet and perform the physical requirements and to work effectively in an environment which is typical of this position. Frequent lifting, bending, climbing, stooping and pulling. Frequent repetitive motions. Continuous standing and walking.
Essential Job Functions / Key Responsibilities:
  • Brings golf cars from car shelter to car staging area outside Golf Pro Shop.
  • Checks golf cars for tire pressure, brake operation and other safety considerations. Tags any cart with safety or operational issues.
  • Loads bags from bag storage room onto golf cars.
  • Transports range balls golf shop containers.
  • Operates tractor and ball picker on range to retrieve balls.
  • Washes all range balls daily.
  • Removes bags from golf carts and returns bags to assigned rack in bag storage room.
  • Returns golf carts to car shelter; removes towels, pencils, score cards, tees, drink cans, etc., from golf carts and saves reusable items; checks carts for damage; washes golf cart with pressure cleaner; parks cart in shelter and connects charger cable.  Advises Pro Shop of clubs found on the course and destined for the lost   and found.
  • Cleans all clubs for members and guests; cleans and maintains the club’s rental equipment.
  • Maintains cleanliness of and order in Bag Storage Room.
  • Attends staff meetings.
  • Performs other appropriate tasks as assigned by the Assistant Golf Professional.

Job Purpose Outline:

Responsible for all duties required to maintain the Equestrian and Hiking trails.

Reports to:
Equestrian Center Manager
Work Environment:
Should be able to work in inclement weather. Should be able to lift heavy objects. Must be able to hike up and down hills. Must be able to carry equipment for repairs and/or tree removal.
Essential Job Functions / Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and clear trails in an acceptable manner for hikers, horse riders and other.
  • Clear brush, weeds, rocks, trees and other blockages from trails so that trails remain safe for users.
  • Build and repair necessary areas of trail deterioration resulting from weather and trail use.
  • When necessary, cut new trails, as instructed by the Equestrian Center Manager.
  • Report trail safety problems immediately to the Equestrian center Manager.
  • Perform general maintenance around the Equestrian center, as needed.
  • Perform such other duties as they may be assigned by the Equestrian center manager.

  • Should have basic knowledge of Trail maintenance and usage of small equipment.
